The Altavas Dental Team

Dr. Myrna Altavas has been serving the Bakersfield community for over 11 years now. She graduated from Davao Medical School Foundation in 1986 and started practicing dentistry in the Philippines. In 2004, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Capitol University while battling stage II cancer. She continued her schooling while receiving chemotherapy. By God’s grace, she was able to beat cancer and graduated without any delay. Dr. Altavas and her family decided to move to Bakersfield in 2006. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Adventist Health Hospital for 6 years while working as a part time Associate Dentist. In 2007, she finally opened her own dental practice in Bakersfield.

Dentistry is naturally Dr. Altavas’ passion. She enjoys advancing her skills and learning new practices to help her patients achieve beautiful smiles. Her dental office uses state-of-the-art technology and continues to have a modern approach in serving her patients by using digital dental radiographs, iTero Intraoral scanner, and Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. Over ten years ago, she completed training in Advanced Fixed Prosthodontics and successfully treats full mouth reconstruction cases giving patients a confident smile. She is a certified Invisalign Premier Provider since 2014. Dr. Altavas became a Diplomate of International Dental Implant Association in 2017 and is one of the very few certified Pinhole dentists in Bakersfield. She has also successfully completed The Healthy Start Sleep Disordered Breathing/Orthodontic Course and is a Certified Premier Provider of the Healthy Start Treatment. Moreover, Dr. Altavas has completed the Digital Smile Design course thus can perform more predictable, facially-guided oral restorations by using modern technology. She is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Kern County Dental Association, and American Academy of Clear Aligners.

During her days off, when she is not enrolled in continuing education classes, Dr. Altavas is mostly spending time with her family. She loves traveling, camping, and, most of all, playing with her grandchildren.
